Overview

Looking for a career in construction trade? Site Institute delivers hands-on, high quality practical courses that provide participants with all the skills required to become a successful professional in Australia and overseas. Students have an engaging learning environment including workshops, practical activities and the most up-to-date tools and equipment. Learn core carpentry skills such as the construction of floors, walls, ceilings and roofing as well as internal joinery, installation of windows, doors, and cladding. During this course, you will also gain industry required competencies such as working safely at heights, and planning and organising work.

Pre-requisites

Students should be a minimum of 18 years of age. and must have completed Year 10 or equivalent. Non school-leavers are selected according to eligibility and merit, vocational experience, previous study and personal competencies. English language requirements: IELTS 5.0 (with no individual band less than 5.0) or equivalent, or Site Institute pre-admission test level 4.

Pathways

This Certificate III course prepares students for a career as a carpenter. In Australia, carpentry is a very large occupation employing approximately 125,000 workers. Over the past 5 years the number of jobs has grown with strong growth is expected in the future.Upon completion of this 2 year program, international students may be eligible to apply for a Temporary Graduate Visa 485 – for details see the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP).
