Overview

Looking for a career in construction trade? Site Institute delivers hands-on, high-quality practical courses that provide participants with all the skills required to become a successful professional in Australia and overseas. Students have an engaging learning environment including workshops, practical activities and the most up-to-date tools and equipment.

Learn how to lay tiles on external and internal walls and floors, and to provide protective and decorative finishes. You will also learn how to read plans, do measurements and calculations, use tools and electrical equipment, and undertake surface preparation and repairs.

During this course, you will also gain industry required competencies such as working safely at heights, and planning and organising work.

Pre-requisites

Students must be at least 18 years old and must have completed Australian secondary education at Year 10 or equivalent. Non-school-leavers are selected according to eligibility and merit, vocational experience, previous study and personal competencies. English language requirements: IELTS 5.0 (with no individual band less than 5.0) or equivalent, or Site Institute pre-admission test at Level 4.

This Certificate III course prepares students for a career as a tiler. In Australia, this is a very large occupation employing approximately 28,100 workers. Over the past 5 years the number of jobs has grown with strong growth is expected in the future. Upon completion of this 2 year program, international students may be eligible to apply for a Temporary Graduate Visa 485 – for details see the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP).
